Complementary Therapies
All of our complementary therapies can be conducted either at our studio in Wandsowrth Town, or in the comfort of your own home. Having a therapist come to your home is often the most relaxing way to enjoy your treatment, the biggest bonus of all being the fact that once the treatment is over you can put your dressing gown on, put your feet up and relax for the rest of the evening. As opposed to having to put your clothes back onto oily skin and heading out to face the elements, parking, traffic, public transport and any other stresses you may face on your way home!
By booking online you need never exchange money with your therapist which can sometimes feel a little awkward. We employ only the highest qualified and experienced therapists so you can rest assured you will be receiving the best treatments direct to your door.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage is used remedially for both injury rehabilitation and prevention. It is an intense massage session that works the muscles and connective tissue surrounding joints to help relieve musculo-skeletal pain and prevent and assist in the rehabilitation of injury. A combination of slow, intense strokes, frictions, trigger point release and myo-fascial release are used to ease muscle tension, break down adhesions between muscle fibres, and help prevent the formation of scar tissue at injury sites.
It particularly aids in the relief of:
- Muscle stiffness
- Soft tissue pain and/or injury
- Tendinitis
- Back Pain
Swedish Massage
This treatment is best given as a 1 hour full body massage for optimum relaxation, but treatments can be tailored to a 30 minute session. A variety of strokes are used, depending on the area of the body, which aim to:
- Improve blood circulation
- Stimulate the lymphatic system, thus increasing elimination of toxins and waste products from muscles
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Create a feeling of well-being and a relaxed body and mind
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a very effective way of easing stress and tension that builds up in muscles, tendons and surrounding fascia. These areas of tension often result following a period of repetitive physical activity, but may also occur as a result of the stresses and strains of everyday life. Deep tissue massage is deeper than a Swedish massage but not quite as intense or specific as a sports massage and uses slow, intense strokes and deep finger pressure or friction to ease stiff muscles.
